The scope of this Committee covers scrutiny of the work of the
NHS bodies serving Thurrock in partnership with the other local
authorities in accordance with the Health and Social Care Act 2001
and associated Regulations and Guidance.
It scrutinises a wide range of functions and matters
relating to:

The provision, planning, management and performance
of adult social services and Public Health
·
The operation of the National Health Service (NHS)
in Thurrock
·
Libraries, museums and community
facilities
·
Culture, Arts and Sports Development
·
Diversity and Equality
·
Adult Training and Skills
The Committee brings together council officers,
health partners, community representatives and voluntary groups to
collaborate on strategies and work programmes in order to improve
the health outcomes for residents in the Borough.
The Committee has two Co-Opted Members representing HealthWatch and Thurrock Coalition.
Importantly, the Committee work in partnership and
act as a member of regional, sub-regional and local health scrutiny
networks and scrutinise the work of the Health and Wellbeing
Board.
This
meeting is open to the public, although in considering some items
of business, the press and public may be requested to leave the
meeting.
